Meet the Board Members

Ernest (Ernie) James
President

Ernest (Ernie) James retired from full-time pastoral ministry December 31,2017. Before retirement, he served in five churches in Texas, Tennessee, and Indiana. He is married to Dana and has two children plus five grandchildren. He has a Masters on Religious Education, a Masters of Divinity, both are from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Ernie has been on numerous short term mission trips but most recently has had the privilege of participating in pastor training with OM2 in Honduras and Ecuador. His passion is to teach pastors lacking access to good solid training for ministry and help them bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God.

“It is very humbling to see the hunger these men have for being equipped to serve their Lord, their churches and their communities. I’ll never forget the older gentleman who walked three hours each way two days in a row just so he could attend the training. Thank God for sending OM2 pastors to him!”

John M. Dimmick

John has been serving churches of the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana as Music Director/Worship Leader, Christian Educator and Pastor since 1980.  Throughout his ministry and particularly during his pastorate, John has had a growing interest and involvement in local, state, national and international missionary work. His first mission trip was to the Ukraine in 1993.  This experience was so impactful that “missions” – of any type, any where, any time – were always pulling him toward the next opportunity to go.  Pastoring the local church did open up many more opportunities to missions and for several consecutive years, John led groups in short term mission trips to Ecuador.  These trips in particular led to the opportunity to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of On Mission 2 International Ministries shortly before retiring from full-time pastoral ministry on December 31, 2019 and to continue serving in mission opportunities in Ecuador and Honduras

During his time of pastoral ministry John sought out formal theological training at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY and has earned two degrees:  Master of Divinity, 1997; and, Master of Theology, 2020.  John has a passion for theological education and knows the tremendous value of pursuing a theological education while serving in the ministry.  It is for this reason that he serves on the Board of OM2 and participates in the annual mission trips of OM2 to Ecuador and Honduras engaging local pastors in theological training for effective ministry in their local churches, for multiplying disciples and for Kingdom growth through the planting of new churches.

“It is an incredible privilege to serve the Lord through OM2.  The passion of our ministry is summed up in 2 Timothy 2:1-2.  We are, both teachers and students, growing “strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”  We are, both teachers and students, committed to the truth that we have received, passing the truth on to faithful men and, now, seeing faithful men teaching others also.  In our most recent trip to Honduras, we were teaching pastors a method of evangelism using marked Bibles highlighting Scripture verses that open up a gospel conversation.  The very next day, we were in conversation with a lady at the hotel where we were staying and able to share the gospel with her using one of the Bibles we had marked the day before.  It was really fun seeing two local pastors apply the training that they had just received and seeing their excitement in knowing that they can share the gospel.  Yes, it is a privilege to serve the Lord through OM2.  Can you think of a better way to “Remember Jesus Christ,” 2 Timothy 2:8, than by living out our faith and passing the truth of the gospel on to others who are ready to receive it and live it out as well?  We are blessed to be a blessing”  To God Be The Glory.

He loves training church planters and pastors as they desire to see their churches grow in their gospel effectiveness.

“It is a blessing to see pastors earnestly looking through the word of God as they study to improve their skills, with a desire to see their congregation become more effective for the kingdom of God.”

Jim Shields

Education: BA Franklin College; MA Liberty Theological Seminary; ThM Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; DMin Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently serve with SCBI as the Team Leader for Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center. I have been on evangelical mission trips to Ecuador with OM2, as well as taught in Ecuador on the Training mission trips. Each trip has taught me more about the dependance on God; on the hunger for His Word in every nation; the beauty of God’s creation; and the humility of teaching and serving pastors who would walk for hours to get to a training center.
